The latest travel trade update from VisitScotland highlights Manderston House in the Scottish Borders which welcomes groups all year round. An Edwardian country house, Manderston was designed by Scottish architect John Kinross in the 1790s and is today home to the 4th Lord Palmer and sits in 56 acres of formal and informal gardens.

Another Scottish gem to discover is Lindores Abbey Distillery in north west Fife. Distilling on the site can be traced back to at least 1494 with references to Scottish Whisky, or Aqua Vitae as it was then known, naming a Lindores monk, brother John Cor, who was commissioned by King James IV to turn 8 ‘bolls’ of malt into Aqua Vitae.

Today the site host whisky tours and also provides a venue for special events and private dinners in the distillery hall.

And finally, a reminder to ‘save the date’ for VisitSotland Expo which takes place in Aberdeen on 1-2 April 2020.
