Windermere Lake Cruises is operating some services again with a circular (non landing) 60-minute cruise from its three main piers, Bowness (up to every 15 mins), Ambleside (up to every 45 minutes), and Lakeside (every 90 minutes). These trips can include the steam train with a combined ticket available.

Windermere Lake Cruises’ Jennifer Cormack says: “As we are sailing our Steamers, we can easily seat a full coach on board with social distancing in place between them.”

Bookings are only available online, and seats will be allocated at the time of the booking. The seats will be either indoor or outdoor only. Once passengers are seated, they will be unable to change or move seats to ensure that social distancing is adhered to.

Jennifer Cormack adds: “As we move into the year and restrictions are changed or removed, we will look to reintroduce some of our ‘normal’ sailings and head back towards our normal timetable. At a time when it is safe to do so, we will be able to remove some of our stricter policies and return to what we could previously offer. However at this time, this is the only way we can manage our operation in a COVID-19 secure manner, in accordance with all up to date UK government advice.”

The coach park will be open as usual, and serving food and drinks to all groups. All passengers will be required by law to wear face coverings while on the boat.

Sister business Lakeland Motor Museum is re-opening with a new process including timed and ticketed entry,  a maximum of 12 people allowed in every 15 minutes depending upon how the group is made up and those that are in the same households or social bubbles able to enter together.

Jennifer Cormack adds: “We are constantly looking at how we can modify and change what we offer to accept groups, yet in a Covid secure way and following all guidelines. As guidelines are relaxed or changed, we will continually change what we can to return to the more normal way of operating”.
